About Sachr Sign Co.
More Than 55 Years of Signage Experience

Signage has been part of my life since childhood, and more than 55 years later, it remains my passion today.

My parents started a small sign business in our backyard garage in 1960. My mother was a typographer and graphic designer who drew and painted the signage presentations, while my father sold and made the signs, initially using polystyrene, a relatively new signage material at the time.

I grew up learning design from my mother and spending weekends helping my father make and install signs. After leaving school, I joined the family business full-time. In the early 1980s, we moved from the backyard into a factory my parents purchased on the Princes Highway in Arncliffe.

By the late 1980s, I had become Managing Director of a growing signage business that eventually employed more than 40 people. Over the years, I have worked in every area of the signage industry, from the factory floor to design, sales and project management. We completed some of Sydney's most recognised signage projects, including the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Cockle Bay Wharf, Darling Harbour, Park Hyatt Sydney, Hyatt and Regent hotels, Four Seasons Hotel, Chifley Plaza, Warringah Mall and Castle Towers, together with major multi-site retail signage and corporate rebranding projects.

More than 55 years later, I remain very hands-on in the design, engineering, manufacture and installation of our signage. Today, I specialise in illuminated tower crane signage, large-format exterior building and rooftop signage, and custom-designed three-dimensional fabricated projects.

During my career, I have watched signage evolve from traditional signwriting, polystyrene lettering and handcrafted neon to computer-controlled manufacturing, digital printing and LED illumination.

The technology has changed. What makes signage effective hasn't.
